“The Sacred Heart of Jesus has such a great desire to be known’ loved, and honored by humankind” (St. Margaret Mary Alacoque).

Message From Fr. Mark Summers
On the last Sunday of this Jubilee liturgical year, November 23rd, 2025, at the 11:00am Mass the Parishioners of St. Agatha Catholic Church – present members and all future members – are to be consecrated to, dedicated to, the Sacred Heart of Jesus. That Sunday is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe, and a perfect day for our consecration.

Consecrating a Catholic parish to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a public act of devotion to Jesus’ infinite love, mercy, and sacrifice for humanity. This devotion can also lead to peace, a closer relationship with Christ, and the blessings promised to those who honor his heart.

Enthronement of the Sacred Heart
In 1673 Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, a French Roman Catholic nun and mystic, of the Congregation of the Sisters of the Visitation. She received the vision of the Sacred Heart. In this vision, Jesus promised: “I will give peace to their families…” and “I will bless those places wherein the image of My Sacred Heart shall be exposed and venerated.”

Goals and Benefits of Consecration
Express love and devotion: It is a way to respond to the love of Jesus, symbolized by his Sacred Heart, with the parish’s love and loyalty.
Offer reparation: Consecration provides an opportunity to make amends for sins and for the contempt and offenses committed against God.
Increase faith and sacraments: It aims to deepen the parish’s belief in God’s merciful love and increase devotion to the sacraments, especially the Eucharist.
Entrust the community: The act entrusts the parish to Jesus, acknowledging his kingship as one of mercy and love, and seeking his care for the community.
Promote peace and healing: It is seen as a remedy against sin and a path to greater peace for the souls within the parish.
Receive blessings: The practice is linked to promises of blessings for those who honor the Sacred Heart, with the hope of touching “unfeeling hearts”.

These are the Twelve Promises of the Sacred Heart of Jesus entrusted to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque:

  1. I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.
  2. I will establish peace in their [parish] home.
  3. I will comfort them in all their afflictions.
  4. I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all, in death.
  5. I will bestow abundant blessings upon all their undertakings.
  6. Sinners will find in My Heart the source and infinite ocean of mercy.
  7. Lukewarm souls shall become fervent.
  8. Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.
  9. I will bless every place in which an image of My Heart is exposed and honored.
  10. I will give to priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.
  11. Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart.
  12. I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who receive Holy Communion on the First Fridays in nine consecutive months the grace of final perseverance; they shall not die in My disgrace, nor without receiving their sacraments. My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.
