At OCIA, we are blessed to have several speakers support the efforts of our catechumens and candidates as they prepare for the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.  You too are invited to join us to learn more about your faith.

Starting October 28 and lasting for three successive Monday nights, Dr. Dan Garland of Ohio Dominican University will help us explore the Sacred Scripture, as follows:

  • October 28:  Sacred Scripture:  Senses and Tradition

  • November 4:  Sacred Scripture:  Christ as Word

  • November 11:  Sacred Scripture:  Stroll through the Bible

Dr. Garland is an Assistant Professor of Theology at Ohio Dominican University.  He holds a doctorate in Systematic Theology with a minor in Biblical Theology from Ave Maria University.  His research interests are in Sacred Scripture, Patristic and Thomistic Exegesis, Sacraments, and Christology.  We are very lucky to have Dr. Garland join us, and we invite everybody to come to these three sessions – or come to any session that piques your interest.

Order of Christian Initiation

The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process through which adults become members of the Catholic Church. We start the process with classes that begin in the middle of September each year.

Meetings are held on Monday evenings at 7:00 p.m. Participants choosing to enter into the sacramental life as a Catholic are received into the Church at the Easter Vigil liturgy.

O.C.I.A. is open to anyone who cares to inquire about the Catholic Faith, as well as all adult Catholics who have not received the sacrament of Confirmation/Eucharist in the Catholic Church. Parishioners may accompany our candidates throughout the process as a sponsor.

For more information contact Mary Ann Schirtzinger at (614) 488-6149 during office hours.
